Teen Life - Intro

Posted on January 17th, 2007 in Teen Life by steve92

Hello everyone! I’m Steve and I am 14. I am in grade 8. I am from South Korea but I live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, an international community which is very pleasant for me. I get to meet people from other countries and I can learn their cultures. I don’t like going to school but I like hanging out with my friends in school during the breaks and lunch time. I like playing and watching tennis and soccer. I like music too, I like rock and death metal. My favorite bands are Greenday, System of A Down, and so on. I like playing video games, chatting on computer with my friends, watching movies, and watching TV. I also like relaxing on my cozy bed and listening music when I have a complicating problem because it makes me feel much better.

I’m interested in some of the issues that you guys have written in the wiki place. The questions look great and all of them make me exciting. My school is an international school where all people from different countries get along. I think it is nice that I get to meet people from different countries. Well my favorite part of our school is that i can make friends. I have about 6 best friends and they are such good friends. I think friends or friendship are really important for you because they are the ones who care about me when I don’t feel good or when I have some conflicts that I can’t solve, and I can trust them. Also I can help them when they are in the situations that I mentioned. In my opinion, friendship goes forever and it will never stop. Like my dad and mom, they still meet their friends from their school and talk to them and stuff. Also, I like the after school activities in my school. We have soccer, baseball, basketball, rugby, volleyball, tennis, touch rugby and so on. After school sports are not only for sports, you can also learn languages and other stuff. You can kill two birds with one stone with this after school activities because you can have FUN and you can learn them.

I feel that our school has too much homework for students because everyday I spend most of my time doing homework. I think teenagers should have fun during the school days. I am not saying we shouldn’t have homework; we should only have a little bit of homework. Other than that, my school is really awesome. They have a good system of classes and enough time of learning the subjects. My school is very unique from other school because we, middle and high school, have four classes a day with 3 breaks and lunch time. Each class is one and a half hour so for example, PE, we can get into it because we have enough time for PE. Like my old school, all the classes was 40-50 minutes each, so whenever I had PE, we didn’t have enough time for it so its like, I was going to have fun then the class finishes. Students have 8 classes each; four main subjects, one exploratory class and two electives. For electives, you choose two subjects that you want to learn like music, art, newspaper, drama, languages(French, Mandarin and Spanish) and alot more. First, we have our first class, 15 minutes of break, 2nd class, lunch for 35 minutes, 3rd class, 5 minutes of break and last class. When the last class finishes, it’s 3pm and people go home.

Since I have talked about our school a lot, I will now talk about the place where I live. I live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Many people live here mainly from China, India, and of course Malaysia. People mainly speak Bahasa Malay, Chinese and Indian and some people can speak English. Well I can communicate with people in Malaysia with English because they know the basic of English. The weather in this country is always hot because Malaysia is a tropical country. People might think that Malaysia is a country where there is no technology, jungles everywhere and native people everywhere. However, you are thinking absolutely different thing. Malaysia is a developed country with high quality technology and there are tall and shiny buildings but in countryside, there are some jungles and native people. Here, they have gigantic shopping malls! Well it’s good for girls or people who like shopping but I hate shopping. But bad thing about those shopping malls are the parking place because every weekend, the parking place is full of cars and it takes forever to park the car. They are really massive and I think it will take more than a day to look around the whole shopping mall. Malaysia has one of the best airports in Asia and I can see too that this airport is amazingly awesome. For transportation, most people have their own cars but some people have motorcycles as for fun and for their transportation. People also take taxis to go to places but there is no subway in Malaysia.

This is all I can say about the issues of teenager in 2007. I hope you know some parts of me now and I hope it was interesting enough and Bye!

    Hey Steve

Great question. To comment on a blogger page you simply choose an identity and pick other. Then you put in your name and your blog address. It should let you comment after that. Although I was looking at your blog and I don’t think that Naty B. is a part of this project.

    Good luck!

    Hi Steve,

Naty B. is actually Nathalie, who can be found on the page for Mr. Hide’s Class from Cartagena. Here most Nathalies and Natalias get shortened to Naty.

Steve your post on the Teen Life Project is amazing.. you described our school so well and how are classes work in just a few words .. it wasnt really that long so that readers would think: This is too much, I’m not going to read this. We share a lot of the same interests and I’m happy you put me up as a friend :) thanks.

Keep it up .. you’re doing a great job!

    Hi.
I was just surfing through the wiki when I saw your question. The one question of yours that caught my eye was, What do you think is the purpose of going to school? I think that your question is important and I really like it. Keep up the great blogging!
